1. Question
Now that you know the different sleep training methods, have a think about which methods you would feel more comfortable using. Using the earlier chapters in the course, write down a list of reasons a family might reach out for your services. Which method of sleep training would you use for each situation below?
- Baby is 7 months old. They are sleeping though the night, but they are waking at 5am every morning like clockwork. The family have a target wake up time of 7am. The family feel strongly that they do not want to use a ‘crying-it-out’ method. Which approach would you take?
- A family approach you as their 12-month-old has never slept through the night. It used to be manageable as the mum was off work; however, she goes back to work next week and needs quick results. What would you propose?
- A father contacts you as him and his husband are really struggling with this son’s naps. He is 9 months old and he will no longer have his 3rd nap of the day. He is so upset at bedtime, and it has become a battle to get him to sleep. He sometimes wakes up after 45 minutes of being asleep and they have to start bedtime all over again. How do you think you can help them?
